KEOKUK — It wasn’t an easy night for the Winfield-Mt. Union boys in their nonconference trip to Keokuk on Saturday. The Wolves’ offense started slow and couldn’t recover in a 47-36 loss.

The Chiefs held to Wolves to just five points in the first period, and WMU could never knot the game back up. Keokuk led 26-18 at halftime and 37-28 after three quarters.

Freshman duo Cam Buffington and Abram Edwards combined for the majority of WMU’s points. Buffington finished the night with 21 points, and Abram Edwards had nine. Konnor Wade was the Wolves’ third leading scorer, with six.

WMU fell to 7-7 overall with the loss. The Wolves were scheduled to put their 7-7 conference record on the line against Mediapolis on Tuesday, but that game was postponed.

The next WMU boys game will be Friday night in Winfield, where the Wolves will take on a Wapello team that comes in 11-2 overall and 9-1 in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division.
