NEW LONDON — The New London and Highland baseball teams were able to get five innings in of their Southeast Iowa Super Conference crossover game on Friday night before inclement weather forced the game to end. New London’s Josh Catala was almost untouchable over those five frames, shutting the Huskies out in a 6-0 win.
Catala gave up just three this and one walk over his five innings of work, helping his Tigers cruise to their third win in the last four games.

Catala helped his own case at the plate, going 2-for-2 with two RBIs, and older brother Holvin finished the night 3-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI. Jaxon Allen and Seth Bailey also knocked in runs for the Tigers.
Highland’s three hits were all singles, one each from Cael Yeggy, Kaige Vonnahme and Grant Colbert.
Bill Laughlin took the loss on the mound for the Huskies. He went one and one-thirds innings, giving up two earned runs on two hits and four walks. Colbert threw three and two-thirds innings and gave up four runs (three earned) on six hits and one hit batter.
