FORT MADISON — After a disappointing home loss on Friday, the Mt. Pleasant girls bounced right back with a nonconference win at Holy Trinity Catholic on Monday night. Led by sophomore duo Tristian Shull and Andrea Lopreato, Mt. Pleasant rolled past HTC 53-35.

Shull and Lopreato combined for 36 points on the night, one more than the Crusaders had as a team. That helped the Panthers cruise to victory, despite a 1-for-8 night from 3-point land.

Mt. Pleasant jumped out to a double-digit lead in the first quarter and never looked back. The Panthers led 18-6 after one quarter, 27-11 at halftime and 42-25 after three quarters.

Shull went 8-for-13 from the field and led the Panthers with 19 points and five steals in the win. Lopreato was 7-for-13 for 17 points, and she added 12 rebounds and three steals to her total.

Emma Rugg poured in seven points from the bench. Kenna Lamm added three points. Emma Huckabone, Ava Lowery and Kate Schimmelpfennig scored two points apiece, and Karsyn Lamm finished the game with one.

The Panthers moved to 6-5 on the season. They will come into Friday night’s road game at Fairfield with a 3-2 Southeast Conference record. The Trojans will come into that game 4-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
