Mt. Pleasant-Washington wrestling postponed

WASHINGTON — The scheduled Southeast Conference wrestling meet between Washington and Mt. Pleasant on Thursday has been postponed.

The two teams were scheduled to meet for a varsity and junior varsity dual at 6:30 in Washington, but COVID-19 related problems within the Mt. Pleasant program has forced the Panthers to put the season on pause.

Thursday’s meet was scheduled to be one of three SEC duals on the night. Fairfield is hosting Fort Madison, and Keokuk will host Burlington.

The COVID-19 related problems for Mt. Pleasant were discovered late last week. The Panthers were originally set to travel to Sigourney for a dual against Sigourney-Keota, but that was canceled.

Mt. Pleasant athletic director Scot Lamm says the Panthers do not yet have a date set for when they can return to action.
