PELLA — The Cardinal boys basketball team couldn’t keep its hot streak going in Thursday’s Class 2A District 11 semifinal against Pella Christian. The Comets fell on the road, 76-58, to snap their three-game winning streak and end the 2020-21 season.
Pella Christian held a 10-6 lead after one quarter, and piled on 28 points in the second to take a 38-23 advantage. Cardinal cut the lead back to 10, at 54-44, heading into the fourth quarter, but the Eagles rebounded to pull away in the fourth quarter.
The Comets poured in 11 3-pointers in the loss, five of which came off the fingertips of Blaine Bryant. The junior led the team with 19 points and three assists.
Griffin Greiner and Elias Elammari scored nine points apiece. Keysean Moore and Dawson Lewis scored eight apiece. Rahsha Pope scored three, and Tyson Paris finished with two.
Cardinal ended its season at 11-10. Pella Christian will play Albia in the district final on Tuesday.
