Truck hits utility pole causing small fire

MT. PLEASANT — A semi truck took out a utility pole and started a small fire in Mt. Pleasant Wednesday morning.

Jordan Fisher of Oskaloosa, who was operating the semi-truck and trailer, attempted to make a turn at the GasLand gas station on Washington St. when a power line caught the top of his vehicle, according to a press release from the Mt. Pleasant Police Department.

The vehicle subsequently pulled the wire from the building and started a small fire.The police department was notified of the incident at 7:15 a.m. The fire was extinguished, and no injuries were reported.

The Mt. Pleasant Fire Department and Mt. Pleasant Municipal Utilities assisted on scene as well.
