October is packed full of events for families and community members. Check out the calendar bellow for events in Washington throughout the month:
Oct. 15-17: Choctoberfest, Downtown Washington. Stroll around and unwrap a chocolate at each store to indulge in sweet savings and discounts at each of the participating businesses. Participants have the chance to win $25, $50 or $100 in Chamber Bucks.
Oct. 16: Hocus Pocus in the Park, Downtown Washington, 6 to 9:30 p.m. Free meal, candy bag giveaway, costume contest, pumpkin giveaway, decorating contest and graveyard games. Movies on Main Street will play the move “Hocus Pocus” at 7:30 p.m.
Oct. 17: Movement Mayhem Obstacle Run, Marr Park, All ages welcome. Registration due by Friday. Start times are staggered and participants will be contacted ahead of time for their start time.
Washington County Conservation Board Annual Halloween Hike and Movie Night, Marr Park, 6 to 10:30 p.m. “Be a Conservationist” theme. Learn about Iowa’s habitats, who lives there, and why it is our job to protect them. After the hike, go to Shelter 3 for the showing of “Halloweentown.”
Oct. 22: The Raven Read Around, 7 p.m., email email@example.com for an invite.
Oct. 23: Hospice of Washington County Halloween Trivia Fundraiser, Dallmeyer Hall, 7 p.m. Four to 10 player teams, $10 per person. BOYB, costume contest and prizes.
Oct. 23-24 and 30: Haunted Trails and Spooky Tales, English River Outfitters Lodge, Dusk until 9 p.m. Hot cocoa and chili available for purchase.
Oct. 24: Boo Bash Halloween at the Y. Washington YMCA, 1 to 3 p.m. Games, contests and build your own popcorn snack bag.
Hocus Pocus Trivia via Zoom, 6:30 p.m. All ages are encouraged to wear family friendly, spooky attire. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for an invite.
Oct. 31: Halloween, sixth annual Drive Thru Trunk or Treat, Washington First Assembly, 5 to 7:30 p.m. Hop in your cars and drive over to fill up your bags.
Lebowski’s Rock n Bowl Halloween Bash, 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. Drink specials, karaoke and dance.
