MT. PLEASANT — A Mt. Pleasant man resisted arrest and assaulted several police officers following a traffic stop on Thursday afternoon, according to police reports.

Kevin Fleming, 28, was stopped at Casey’s General Store on Washington Street by Mt. Pleasant police for operating a vehicle without license plates. Fleming was known to not have a valid license, according to a news release from the police department.

According to the police report:

After being stopped, Fleming left his vehicle and attempted to walk away from the scene, refusing to comply with officers’ commands to return to the car. Fleming began to resist and assault officers. Additional officers arrived to help restrain Fleming.
