Many resident birthdays have been celebrated recently including Max Cousins, Judy Driscoll, Donna Koehler, Diana Henry, Bob Koehler, Joyce Letts, Pat Bagley and Jerry King. Most people did not report on their birthday celebrations and others we learned of by accident, like Max Cousins who celebrated his 86 birthday Wednesday when he shared ice cream sandwiches with his crowd of friends. The girls next door sang an off-key version of Happy Birthday to Max which got the dogs barking.

Brad and Pat Goff celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on Sunday, June 21. Following church services, they stopped at their daughter and son-n-law’s house for a pizza party lunch with berry pie for dessert. The two of them spent the remainder of the afternoon enjoying the peace and quiet while sitting outside on their deck.

Signs outside the Health Center this week announced the 30th birthday of staff member, Becca Enfield. Many who passed by honked, wishing her a happy birthday. Becca shared birthday cake with her co-workers Wednesday afternoon and celebrated with her sister later in the week.

The Moore Family Dining Room opened this week to Main Building and Kerr Hall residents following a three-month hiatus. Diners saw a different format as they sat only one or two people per table and had their temperatures taken before entering the dining room. It is the new and probably long-term way of gathering.

The Fitness Center has challenged residents to drink at least eight glasses of water, or the equivalent thereof, each day during the month of June. Messages have been posted of creative ways to hydrate through foods like fruits and vegetables if eight glasses of water seem too much. Water is essential to every cell in your body. It also helps to flush toxins through your body and prevents dry mouth, chapped lips and bad breath. Drink up!
